Riassunto analitico
The aim of the project is to develop a rapid screening system of chemical library to identify new bioactive substances capable of significantly influencing a biological process, therefore a specific physiological trait in the treated plants, including the response to specific exogenous stress.
Given the significant number of molecules object of the screening, the development of a rapid monitoring system was essential. For this purpose, it was chosen to use Arabidopsis as model plant to grow and treat on a High Throughput System platform.
In the first year, the activities have mainly concerned the experimental set-up for this high throughput screening system.
Once the system has been optimized, then defined the stage of plant development as well as the suitable concentrations of treatment, the activities of the second year focused on:

• Bioassay to select the molecules, among those tested, capable of inducing a phenotypic effect on treated plants, detectable in the significant variation of one of the biometric parameters taken into consideration;

• Categorization of tested molecules based on the specific resulted action;

• Investigation concerning the mechanism of action.
