Riassunto analitico
Electrostatic actuators present a compact and lightweight alternative to traditional electromagnetic and hydraulic actuators, in particular at the millimetre to centimetre scale. Their ability to be integrated into arrays or stacks offers high power density and precise control. In this work, we present the development of a centimetre-scale electro-hydraulic pump powered by an electrostatic actuator. The complete development process is described in detail, including the design methodology, fabrication techniques, experimental setup, and performance characterization.
The device demonstrates efficient actuation with a compact design, confirming the potential of electrostatic actuation for driving small-scale hydraulic systems. This prototype serves as a foundational step towards the realization of more advanced and integrated soft robotic systems, microfluidic devices, and portable pumping solutions.
