Riassunto analitico
The paper offers a three-year comparative analysis of environmental sustainability reporting among top European football clubs, focusing on how disclosure practices have evolved in response to new regulations and industry standards. By examining the latest sustainability reports and online disclosures from clubs in Serie A, Premier League, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga the study evaluates improvements in the quality and transparency of environmental data, such as emissions, energy and water use, waste management, and supply chain practices. Special attention is given to the impact that was expected from the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the influence of the UEFA 2030 Sustainability Strategy, highlighting how these frameworks have influenced reporting behaviors and driven progress across the sector. The analysis identifies leading clubs and best practices, while also noting persistent disparities between countries and areas where further improvement is needed. Ultimately, the paper provides an updated overview of sustainability in European football, offering insights and recommendations to support more effective reporting and greater environmental responsibility throughout the industry.
