Riassunto analitico
Insulin resistance , encompassing conditions like type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, is rapidly emerging as one of the major global healthcare burdens. In this context, there's a need for different research methods to delve deeper into its mechanisms. This pilot and feasibility study specifically investigates the potential use of alpelisib (a PI3K inhibitor), a drug primarily known for its use in breast cancer, as a tool to induce a human model of insulin resistance. If successful, alpelisib could serve as a valuable instrument for future steps in the study of insulin resistance and its effects on human metabolism.
